The Non-Snow Day

Great controversy surrounds Dublin City Schools superintendent, Todd Hoadley's decision to keep the district open while surrounding school districts were closed due to the snow. Many criticize his decision, saying it jeopardized the lives of students, while others praise him saying that the snow was not enough to halt education. Due to complications with the weather, regardless of Hoadley's decision, there were significant effects. Including absences in the morning, afternoon, and full day, the total absence count was 122 students. Students also reported difficulty parking due to the snow buildup in the parking lot. In actuality, the lot had been plowed at 3:00 AM, an hour before the snow fell at 4:00 AM. Thus, there was not enough time to clear the lot before students and teachers arrived. Despite all the complaints, there were no major accidents reported at Jerome. |
